Bristol Sling Library is open 3 Tuesday afternoons a month in the north and south of the city with plans for more venues in the future.
Advice and fitting is free and hiring costs just £6 a fortnight. You can try everything from ring slings to stretchies to buckles to mei tais to wovens and more! The deposit is the full retail value of the sling hired and you can hire for 2 weeks but you can always renew and reserve.
Soft structured carriers are the most popular and the Beco Gemini is a favorite.
The library was started because there was a clear need for it and in the past year it has become much busier and expanded to an additional meet in a different area of the city.
Bristol Sling Library said "We hope to have more staff and more meets over the next year- it has been fantastic being able to help so many parents and babies since we were founded, and we'd like to be able to offer this service more widely."

How do I carry my stuff/shopping? (Answer: wheelie bags are your friends)
Questions about babywearing
(Answer: I've had a c section, can you help me choose a carrier? Yes but nothing near your scar – no carriers with waistband. Stretchy or RS best)
I have twins and I'd love to babywear, can you help? (Answer: Yes, one on each hip in a stretchy or two ring slings, or one on the back/one on the front in a woven wrap or buckle/mei tai carrier)
What carrier would you advise for someone with a bad back? (Answer: One that can be crossed over the back/spread widely to distribute weight evenly)
My partner is much bigger than me but we would like a carrier we can share - what would you advise? (Answer: Usually to get a carrier each or use a woven wrap if you don't want to be adjusting webbing like mad every time... couples rarely find they are equally comfortable with the same carrier as it's a very personal thing as far as comfort goes)
We hope to have more staff and more meets over the next year- it has been fantastic being able to help so many parents and babies since we were founded, and we'd like to be able to offer this service more widely.
